There are a lot of online courses that say they can change the way you work, think, and do things. There are hundreds of options when you do a quick search. Some are free, some cost as much as a semester of college, and most of them are just sitting there in someone’s downloads folder unfinished. People who work in the personal development field are very good at making people feel like they’re investing in themselves, even if they never use the information they buy. So that’s the uneasy background against which Mindset & Skills’s upcoming MAS Academy course is trying to stand.
The course, which starts in December 2026, is based on Christopher Diaz, who used to be a clinical psychologist in the US Navy and worked with sailors, Marines, Paralympians, and high-level executives for years before he started writing and teaching. It doesn’t matter how that background sounds as much as it does. Most mindset content is written by people who are interested in personal growth because they have been through a crisis, changed careers, or had a big breakthrough. He got to it from a different point of view. He looked into how people really work when they are under a lot of stress. He doesn’t get ideas for the frameworks he writes about at mindsetandskills.com; instead, he’s seen over a long career how capable people either get better or stay the same.
The academy course is organized into six sections: mindset basics, systems for setting goals, communication and persuasion, sales basics, motivation and consistency, and thinking like an entrepreneur. That’s a pretty big range for a single program, and it’s important to be honest about how big the goals are. It’s not easy to cover all of that well enough to make a difference for someone who really wants to get better. Still not clear is how fast or deep each module will go or how the modules will be organized. From what we can see so far, it looks like the content is meant to be structured and useful, with less of an emphasis on getting inspired and more on having something useful to take away from each lesson.
The sales part is likely the most interesting and, at times, the strangest part of this story. It doesn’t make sense for a clinical psychologist to teach people how to sell. Diaz, on the other hand, says that most sales problems aren’t tactical problems, which is in line with what he’s written over the years. They have identity issues. People have trouble closing not because they don’t have the right words, but because they don’t really believe in what they’re selling or that they’re a good business partner. That’s not a sales pitch; it’s a way of thinking that often works for business owners who have reached a wall they can’t quite figure out.
The market for personal growth courses as a whole has been moving in this direction for a while now. In the past few years, platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and Alison have all added a lot more courses in professional and mindset skills. The change shows that both people and employers are realizing that technical skills aren’t the only thing that determines who moves up. Just as much, or sometimes even more, is how someone handles feedback, deals with uncertainty, or talks when they are under a lot of stress. Even though MAS Academy is entering a crowded market, it does so with a clear voice and a clear person behind it, which is more than most new courses can say.
Clarity and trust are two things that usually separate courses that people actually finish from ones they drop. You should know exactly what you’re going to learn and why it’s important. Believe in the person who is teaching it. Diaz has worked on the second part of Mindset & Skills for more than ten years. He does this by writing regularly, using real clinical experience, and being clear about what causes growth instead of being vague. We won’t know if the course lives up to the expectations that are being built around it until December. And for those who are really interested in starting their own business, making more money, or just thinking more clearly, this might be one to keep an eye on.
It’s impossible not to notice how much work has gone into getting ready. That’s either a sign of real faith in what’s being built or a very well-thought-out plan for the launch. Most likely both.
